Peach County, Georgia

The county government seated at Fort Valley — presented through its own approved budget, not the budget of the City of Fort Valley, which is a separate government and is not covered here.

Fiscal-year label — read this first: the source document's file title is “APPROVED FY26 BUDGET” and it is headed “APPROVED BUDGET AS OF SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2025,” but its column headers carry both “2024” and “2025” group labels over a six-column layout (2022 actual, 2023 actual, current budget, year-to-date actual, requested budget, approved budget), so the approved column's fiscal year is not stated unambiguously in the document itself. This page therefore does not call the figures FY2025 or FY2026: every figure below is labeled “approved budget (as of September 30, 2025)” exactly as the document presents it. Only the document's APPROVED column is used — never the requested column, and never a prior-year actual presented as a budget.

Overview

Peach County's approved budget balances in the General Fund: approved revenues of $28,529,408 against approved expenditures of exactly the same $28,529,408. Across every fund in the document that carries an approved figure, approved expenditures total $46,032,673 (see the All funds table, which sums exactly).

The approved General Fund budget is $2,046,063 (about 7.7%) above the document's “current budget” column of $26,483,345. Taxes dominate the General Fund: $24,003,236 of the $28,529,408 in approved revenues, about 84%. The single largest revenue line is current-year real property tax (other) at $14,530,381, followed by the local option sales tax at $4,893,999.

The capital program is dominated by two sales-tax funds: the 2021 SPLOST at $7,500,000 (including $1,875,000 each in payments to the cities of Fort Valley and Byron) and the 2022 TSPLOST at $5,900,000 (mostly bond principal and interest). The county's enterprise operation is the Solid Waste Fund at $2,174,644, funded by refuse collection fees plus transfers from the General Fund.

All funds — approved expenditures

Every fund in the document that carries an approved expenditure figure is listed below. The table sums exactly to $46,032,673. Funds in the document with no approved figure (blank in the APPROVED column) are listed in the note below the table, not silently dropped.

Note: the document also prints sections for the EDA Grant (221), Air One Georgia Grant (222), Opioid Settlements (235), 1999 SPLOST (322), 2000 SPLOST (323), CDBG Gano Project (341), 2018 CDBG (343), and agency funds 715–800 (Superior Court, Probate Court, Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, Magistrate Court, Jail Inmate, General Fixed Assets). Each of those sections is blank in the APPROVED column — no approved revenue or expenditure figure is stated — so they contribute $0 to the totals above and are not estimated here. The 1994 SPLOST requested $130,626 and the 2008 SPLOST requested $466,571, but both were approved at $0, so the requested figures are not used.

SPLOST & TSPLOST — debt & capital

The two live sales-tax funds are the county's capital program. Both are budgeted to spend exactly what they take in.

2021 SPLOST (327) — $7,500,000

ItemApproved
Special local option sales tax revenue$7,500,000
Payments to Fort Valley$1,875,000
Payments to Byron$1,875,000
Contingency$3,531,047
Capital lease — principal$177,442
Capital lease — interest$41,511
Total approved expenditures$7,500,000

The three expenditure groups sum exactly: city payments $3,750,000 + contingency $3,531,047 + capital-lease debt service $218,953 = $7,500,000. All other 2021 SPLOST lines (vehicles, buildings, equipment, roads) are approved at $0 in this document.

2022 TSPLOST (328) — $5,900,000

ItemApproved
T-SPLOST tax collections$5,900,000
Bond principal$3,700,000
Contingency$1,827,500
Bond interest$372,500
Total approved expenditures$5,900,000

Bond debt service ($3,700,000 principal + $372,500 interest = $4,072,500) plus the $1,827,500 contingency sums exactly to the $5,900,000 total. No road construction line in the TSPLOST fund carries an approved amount in this document — the fund's approved spending is debt service and contingency only.

Enterprise & special funds

Solid Waste Fund (540) — $2,174,644

The county's enterprise operation (stormwater, solid waste collection, recycling and landfill). Approved revenues equal approved expenditures at $2,174,644: refuse collection fees $1,083,444 plus General Fund transfers of $1,091,200 (an operating transfer in of $534,852 and a transfer of 40% of one mill of $556,348). By division, approved expenditures are: Solid Waste $1,083,444, Stormwater $438,535, and all other divisions (recycling, landfill) $652,665 as the arithmetic remainder — the three sum exactly to $2,174,644. The largest single cost is disposal in the Solid Waste division at $1,101,750, partly offset by a negative contingency line of −$214,131 in that division.

E911 (215) — $526,000

Approved revenues of $526,000 come entirely from wireless E911 service charges in the APPROVED column (the landline charge line is approved at $0, though it was requested at $526,000), and approved expenditures are $526,000, all in regular-employee costs as presented.

Transit (545) — $324,306

Approved revenues of $324,306 are entirely a state DOT transit grant, and approved expenditures of $324,306 are resource-management services.

American Rescue Funds (230) — $841,284

Approved revenues of $841,284 are a residual equity transfer in, and approved expenditures of $841,284 are a transfer out — the fund passes the balance through rather than spending it on programs in this budget.

Sources & notes

  • Only source used: Peach County Board of Commissioners, Approved Budget as of September 30, 2025 (file title “APPROVED FY26 BUDGET”; TED portal file county-peach-fy2025-budget-report.pdf). Read the approved budget (PDF, UGA TED portal).
  • Column used: the APPROVED BUDGET column only. Requested-budget figures, current-budget figures, and prior-year actuals are never presented as approved figures; the one comparison to the current-budget column ($26,483,345) is labeled as such.
  • Fiscal-year label: ambiguous in the document itself — file title says FY26, header says “as of September 30th, 2025,” column group headers say both 2024 and 2025. This page uses “approved budget (as of September 30, 2025)” throughout and does not assign a fiscal year.
  • Sum checks: every breakdown table on this page was added up before publishing; each shown total equals the sum of its shown parts. Remainder lines (General Fund “all other departments” and Solid Waste “all other divisions”) are arithmetic balances, labeled as such, not document line items.
  • What is missing: this page has no audited actuals, no fund balances, no debt schedule beyond the SPLOST/TSPLOST lease and bond lines shown, and no population, staffing, or service-level figures — the approved-budget document does not supply them in a form used here, and none were invented. Funds printed with blank APPROVED columns are disclosed, not estimated.
  • Identity: this is the Peach County government dashboard (seat Fort Valley). The City of Fort Valley is a separate government; its own figures are not included here, though the county budget includes $1,875,000 in 2021 SPLOST payments to the city.
  • County palette: no high- or medium-confidence Peach County palette was on file, so this page uses the neutral Peach State Pulse dark-glass theme rather than a county color.
